As many as one in three parents never read their child a bedtime story – and yet, in the UK, how well you read has a direct bearing on how well you do in life. Doorstep Library recruits and trains volunteers to support parents and introduce children to the pleasure of reading. They knock on doors and sit on little stools, and share books with some of the most deprived families in London.

a small charity had big ambitions
Doorstep Library wanted more volunteers so they could help more children. A new professional brand and digital presence was necessary to attract the corporate donors that would increase their funding and to reach out to potential volunteers.
to inspire a generation
We worked closely with Clout Branding who developed a new brand identity based on the idea, “Words take you places”. Working with the new brand and Clout’s designs, we advised to ensure everything would translate well across all devices.
Using the new brand, Hybrid Studio built a website that brings the charity to the forefront with social media, video capabilities and a newsletter sign up. It is a vibrant platform for their ever-changing content and is easy for the staff to manage due to the specially adapted Wordpress CMS. The new site works on all devices – vital for their volunteer and family audiences. Crucially, it enables donations to be made online and volunteers to sign up.
We delivered CMS training for Doorstep Library’s staff to ensure a smooth handover, and we continue to host and maintain the site.
and help them to lead more fulfilled lives.
Since the rebrand and launch of the new site in 2015, Doorstep Library have doubled the number of full-time staff and in 2017 their income rose by almost 400%. In just one year they loaned 12,600 books to children.
